Under the guidance of Ruti Sela, this course engages art students in creating multi-sensory experiences around food rescue, using unused food in creative ways. Combining theoretical learning, hands-on creation, and collaborative workshops, the course culminates in a monthly public event, “Art & Food,” showcasing students’ work and fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The project connects diverse student communities, encourages social interaction, and integrates education, art, and community action. It raises awareness about sustainability, responsible resource use, and food waste reduction within both the university and the wider public.
This project was selected as part of the University’s 2024 Call for Impact Projects, launched by the Division of Innovation & Sustainability to promote research and educational initiatives with significant social and environmental impact. Following a highly competitive selection process, each awarded project received ₪50,000 for a 24-month period to support interdisciplinary collaboration and translate academic knowledge into real-world outcomes.
