An international delegation of researchers in Kenya highlights the importance of global collaboration in advancing innovative research on biodiversity conservation that integrates ecology, biology, and artificial intelligence. As part of this effort, a joint initiative with universities in North America is promoting the establishment of an international doctoral course to create a shared language and develop advanced technological tools for data-driven sustainability. Field activities, including data collection and the use of drones to monitor wildlife in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, reflect an advanced model of research and training with broad international impact. Professor Arazy, who joined the delegation in February–early March, sought to study and deepen his understanding of this model that combines ecology and technology, to implement it within the international initiative led by the AI4Biodiversity group at the University of Haifa.
The group includes Professor Ofer Arazy, Professor Dan Malkinson, Professor Ilan Shimshoni, and Dr. Yiftach Nagar from the University of Haifa. The research group is primarily funded by the Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AIRC).
